Did my new hermit crab kill my other crab?

I just bought a new hermit crab yesterday, and tonight i found my smallest crab dead and out of his shell. No limbs were missing. I'm wondering if the new crab is responsible, because the dead crab had a much smaller shell and therefore it wouldn't be a fight over the shell. Any ideas?
